13 nuggets of WISDOM I wish I could tell my 13 year old self
It's official...we have a teenager in the house! My daughter turned 13 on Jan. 2nd, and I'm still processing how in the world that happened! It's true what they say.....don't blink!
My daughter is such a reflection of me, which is hard and beautiful at the same time. I find myself telling her things I wish I would have known at her age, and sprinkle in words of wisdom when I can.
Here is a list I put together of 13 nuggets of wisdom I wish I could tell my 13 year old self:
Just as nature is always changing, YOU are always changing. Your body will change, your relationships will change, your ideas will change, your hobbies and interests will change. Change is the only constant in your life. Be open to the natural unfolding of life and meet it with curiosity and surprise.
Be a gatekeeper to what you consume, because.....well, you become what you consume. You become what you put into your eyes, ears, nose, mouth and through touch. You become your environment. Be aware of how people, places and things make you feel, and discern if their energy is in alignment with how you want to live your life.
Listen to the inner nudges. Your body is always communicating to you. The more you listen to your intuition, the stronger it gets. Trust that you are always being guided.
How you spend your energy is how you spend your life. Ask yourself often, "how do I want to show up in the world? How do I want to positively contribute to this planet and my human family? How do I want to be remembered?"
Look for the lessons. See challenging experiences as your greatest teachers. Difficult moments can also be growth-filled ones. What challenges you can make you stronger.
Stillness balances movement. Quiet balances noise. Rest balances busyness. Rest is a different kind of productivity, and it's okay to prioritize it. Learn to balance input and output.
Authenticity is a super power. Be yourself and see the beauty in your own becoming.
Eat real food that came from the Earth, and get comfortable in the kitchen. Food is MEDICINE! Cooking is a life skill that nourishes your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. What you eat now will affect how you feel later.
Your digestion is the hub of health! You are not what you eat, you are what you are able to digest (that means food AND life experiences). If you can't pronounce it, you can't digest it.
YOU get to decide how to define success....no one else. You are an artist and get to create the life you want.
The first step is always to take a deep breath.
Learn to be with yourself and spend time alone. The best way to get to know yourself is to spend time with yourself. Be the most interesting person you know.
Your relationship with the Divine is the most important relationship of your life. Keep nurturing the invisible parts of yourself, and remember that you are already perfect, whole and complete.
Which one was your favorite?
What would you tell your 13 year old self?
My 42 year old self would also like to tell my 13 year old self, wisdom from a quote I recently heard by Ethan Walker II: "Wisdom is knowing we are all one. Love is what it feels like, and compassion is what it acts like."
Happy New Year!
Love and light,
Shannon
