I originally contacted her with the goals of losing weight, feeling more confident, and feeling less anxious. I felt like my world was moving so fast that I couldn’t keep up and my health was declining. I needed to make some changes and needed some help.
During our time together, Shannon introduced me to tools and practices that I will use the rest of my life. These included morning habits to start the day right. She gave me ideas to reduce screen time to decrease anxiety. We worked on how to eat more mindfully and undistracted. We also concentrated on what to eat. Later, she introduced me to self care ideas including breathing practices so I can reduce stress even more.
At the beginning of our time together, I was grateful because we concentrated on “how to eat and what to eat.” This helped get some of my weight off. I always thought that being in better physical shape would help me be more confident and less stressed. As we neared the end of our 6 month program, we concentrated on being more mentally fit. We found ways for me to slow down, make time for myself, get some yoga in, do some breathing exercises, etc. All of this reduced my stress and made me happier. Which I believe makes it a lot easier to be physically fit. That is what I am taking from this journey.
